Harvest the family tree for fictional character development
Fiction authors such as Tolkien, Salinger, and J.K. Rowling created elaborate fictional family trees as they wrote their stories, but authentic genealogies can also be a wonderful tool for writing historical fiction or creative nonfiction. In this session, genealogy, specifically Ancestry.com, is explored as an avenue for historical and literary fictional character development.
